Matt Scholten is an acclaimed Director, Writer, Producer, Teacher & Arts Manager. He has worked extensively in mainstage, education and independent settings in both regional and metropolitan locations around Australia.Matt graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2006 with First Class Honours in Directing and has an undergraduate degree in Teaching from the University of Melbourne with majors in Drama & English. Since 2006 Matt has been the Artistic Director & Creative Producer for independent theatre company If Theatre. Matt worked as a Teaching Artist at the Victorian College of the Arts from 2007-2014. From 2010-2014 Matt was Head of Theatre Arts at Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE. From 2013-2015, Matt worked as an Artistic Consultant and then Artistic Director at Benalla Performing Arts & Convention Centre. Following a Directorial Attachment with Channel Seven in 2013, Matt has also embarked on a series of television and film projects as writer and director. Based on Mount Tamborine in South East Queensland, Matt maintains an active freelance directing, producing & writing practice as well as working as a teaching artist and collaborating on a range creative projects. He has extensive experience in project management for arts and technology industries, running workshops, event management, technical skills and working with a range of people on creative outcomes.
