This is the heart of the western Scenic Rim, 88km from Brisbane and 110km from the Gold Coast, nestled right up against the mountains, surrounded by rich agricultural land. The area is home to three freshwater lakes — Lake Moogerah, Maroon Dam and the recently opened Wyaralong Dam. Boonah and Kalbar are communities who love the arts and host wonderful exhibitions, concerts and community festivals.

This region is perhaps best known for its alluvial soils, which make it a fertile area rich in fresh produce. Majestic mountains, national parks and bush walking have attracted a vast array of accommodation types, and activities to suit everyone from adrenalin junkies to those more interested in a quiet, peaceful experience.
