On Sunday, October 30, 1938 in New York, a 23 year-old relatively unknown Orson Welles made history. After this day, almost everyone in America knew his name. Broadcast from New York’s Mercury Theatre and based on the novel by H. G. Wells, this infamous radio play by Howard E. Koch, co-writer of Casablanca, had many terrified listeners convinced that an actual alien invasion of Earth was taking place.

ANNOUNCER: The Columbia Broadcasting System and its affiliated stations present Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre on the Air in The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells.

Starring: Dan McNamara, Chris Morpette-Wheatley, Alan Stick, Doug Harm, Nicole Skerman, Sydney Jackson, Janine Wolf, Laura Enright.
