Behind The Scenes 2019 - Exhibition Practices

Put yourself in the picture with Scenic Rim Arts Mentorship Program

This hands-on skills based program is for Scenic Rim artists and creatives to work with Scenic Rim Regional Council's Gallery Curator Irene Girsch-Danby in exhibition development, design, presentation and marketing to present the Artists in Studios 2019 exhibition.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

AIM: to gain understanding, experience and skills in exhibition development, design and presentation practices.

OUTCOME: to develop, promote and present the Artists in Studios 2019 exhibition at The Centre Beaudesert with supporting public programs and workshops.  Participants will be able to apply knowledge and skills to develop and present their own exhibitions. 

Certificate of Participation: Participants completing the mentorship modules will receive a certificate.

PROGRAM SESSIONS

MENTORSHIP DATES: Sessions will be held on 2nd Monday of month 10am - 1pm at The Centre Beaudesert commencing May 2019.  

SESSIONS INCLUDE:

Program will include hands-on and workshop style discussions and problem solving sessions:

  • Developing an exhibition theme or proposal & plan
  • What timing and costs are involved?
  • What agreements or contracts should be created?
  • How to let people know
  • Displaying & installing processes
  • Exhibition openings and other events
  • Programs to engage
  • Surveys, feedback and evaluations

HOW TO BE INVOLVED

WHO CAN APPLY: artists and community members of all ages and experience from across the region.
