Join the artists for morning tea and artist talks with their exhibition; meet native birds up-close with Geckoes Wildlife; become informed through native bird information and displays with Scenic Rim Environment officers; and enjoy a free screening of Penguin Bloom (PG). Bird Buddies free activity station for the kids all day.
 

Program:

10.00am  Meet the artists Morning Tea, artist tours with Colleen Lavender and Monique Quarantini.  Information stations & displays with Scenic Rim Environment officers.

11.00am  Native Birds Up-close with Geckoes Wildlife - meet owls, Glossy Black and Red tailed Black Cockatoo, Channel billed Cuckoo, Curlew, Kookaburra, Fig Parrot, Eclectus Parrot; and learn about what to do with injured birds.

12.30pm  Penguin Bloom (PG) Movie starring Naomi Watts (95 min).

All day     Bird Buddies Kids Activity Kits of bird mobiles, activity sheets and add your drawings and stories about your favourite birds to our Kids Native Bird Wall.

    
 

Feathered presents two exhibitions: Bimblebox 153 Birds a unique installation of artist prints, poetry, prose and musician’s birdcalls by over 450 people worldwide inspired by the birdlife of the Bimblebox Nature Refuge, and Bird Reflections showcasing local response and connections with birds in Scenic Rim including pottery and sculptures by local artists Monique Quarantini and Colleen Lavender, and 'Gullunini Creation Story' a short film of Mununjali First Nations dance of the waterhen creation story. Feathered is on show from 11 January to 5 February 2022.
