ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Connections to Place features two significant exhibitions about place and human response to and relationship with place. Presenting Running Rivers: Pigments of Place by Scenic Rim artist Kuweni Dias Mendis and Small Treasures 22: Place, a group exhibition of exceptional small artworks and fine craftworks and merchandise which reflect a sense of place.

Running Rivers: Pigments of Place
by Kuweni Dias Mendis

This exhibition inspires people to be in relationship with non-human systems, to build intimacy and trust with nature, to inspire people to support other systems like waterways, earth, habitat and each other.

It highlights the role human activity can play in regeneration, as co-evolutionary participants, where people participate in the evolution than the degeneration.

Small Treasures 22: Place
exceptional small artworks and fine craftworks

2022 saw families and Scenic Rim communities continue to connect with nature and neighbourhoods in extraordinary ways.

This exhibition is a pre-Christmas show which reflects on another enriching and challenging year and celebrates our resilience. It features an exceptional collection of small-scale artworks and fine craftworks of meticulous artistry that connect with place.

Features work by Claire Beck, Zela Bissett, Dr Renata Buziak, Waylene Currie, Anita Egginton, Therese Flynn-Clarke, Tamlyn Geiger, Louise Grove Wiechers, Shannon Hunter, Colleen Lavender, Angus MacDiarmid, Heather Matthew, Deb McLachlan, Twisted Murf, Nadine Schmoll, Felicity Smith, Jenny Stuart and Stephanie Wernick.
