ARTIST CALL OUT 2021

Design Feature to be Used in a Story Marker

Submission closing date of 31 May 2021

As part of supporting our regions heritage and identity, the Scenic Rim Regional Council (SRRC) has been working with community groups, museums and individuals to capture over 800 stories connected to our region. This wealth of stories are not only important to the people of this region but are fascinating to those who visit the area. These significant stories will now inform a series of Markers which will be part of the Scenic Rim Story Trails across the region.

The SRRC is seeking submissions for artworks and/or designs that would be incorporated into these Markers. The key themes that each art work should address are artworks (design features) to be based on the five key themes that have been identified for the Story Trails project.

Design features (artworks in one of each of the five themes) will be commissioned @ $1,000 per artwork to be included in the Story Marker.

Story Trails (Marker)

This image is an artist's impression only. This example illustrates how a design may be applied to the marker.  The final marker design is yet to be finalised.

The five themes are:

  • The Natural World: Stories of the Environment.
  • First Nation: Stories from our Indigenous People.
  • Discovery: Stories of the Pioneers and Colonisation of Queensland.
  • The 20th Century: Migration, Federation and the War Years.
  • The Modern World: Contemporary History since 1945.

WHAT

SRRC is seeking submissions for five design features (artworks) to be used for Story Markers to be installed at the sites of significant Scenic Rim Stories.

Each design should relate to one of the five themes.  Artists may submit designs for all themes or focus on a particular theme.
